Swift runner and the wendigo
In the winter of 1878, something terrible came to the forest near Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta, Canada. A Cree man named Swift Runner had taken his wife, children, brother, and mother-in-law out into the woods to camp for the winter, but he had returned to civilization alone. Eventually, he would confess to murdering his entire family and cannibalizing them. He claimed that he was possessed by a Wendigo, a terrifying spirit from Algonquin legend. But what really happened out in the woods that fateful winter?
