19 Jan Episode 4: Manhunt
Richard Ramirez. That is the name on everyone’s mind. As the police become aware of who Richard Ramirez is, we start to learn about his past. What we find out paints a perfect picture for the making of a serial killer.
When the warrant comes out for Ramirez’s arrest, it does not take long for word to get out. As Ramirez is coming home from visiting his brother in Arizona, he becomes aware that everyone is looking for him. In his haste to escape the law, he ends up in a neighbourhood where the citizens take it upon themselves to stop Ramirez and quickly get the police involved. The Night Stalker is now in police custody.
Now in police questioning, Ramirez does not confess to any crimes that he is accused of. With all the evidence and witness statements, Ramirez’s case is now brought to court. What law enforcement didn’t account for were all the groupies and Satan worshippers that this case attracted. Having left some pentagrams at some of his crime scenes, Ramirez makes sure to play up his devil-worshipping for all his admirers.
As the court cases move along, detectives make a wise choice to not include the child sexual abuse cases that he is accused of to make sure that the kids involved do not have to go through and relive what happened to them.
On the day of the verdict, Ramirez is found guilty of all murder and rape charges. He is put on death row but ultimately it was cancer that ended Ramirez’s life in 2013 while he was in jail awaiting the death penalty.
Thus ending, the reign of terror brought on by the Night Stalker…
