First of all, these murders are technically not in my hometown but they’re pretty close to where I live.
Robert Pickton was a pig farmer in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Before everything came out, he was described as a weird outcast. He did not have many acquaintances and friends and he usually stuck to himself and his three siblings that also owned the pig farm. Things started to go south with Pickton when sex workers connected to him started going missing.
Pickton was known for hanging out with sex workers and when a string of women went missing in the area, many pointed the finger at Pickton. Surprisingly, it was a search warrant for illegal firearms that brought the police to Pickton’s pig farm. On this occasion, some of the missing women’s belongings were found and it was game over.
Some people believe he ground up the women and mixed it with the pork meat. He did not sell this pork-woman meat combo but instead gave it to friends and families. Others believe he fed pieces of flesh from the victims to his pigs. That’s one way of getting rid of the evidence…
Not all Canadians are friendly, especially not pig farmers!
