Blind River's Gentle Giant
I cannot confirm nor deny if this story is true or not but it most definitely lives in my head rent free.
Blind River is a sleepy town in Ontario right beside a river (as the name clearly states). I have fond memories of Blind River. Gardening with my grandparents, going swimming at Four Sands Beach, walking to the only convenience store in town for some ice cream and to rent a movie and of course scary stories among the kids in the neighbourhood.
In the summer, we would have constant fire going in the backyard for roasting marshmallows and gathering at night. This is where the juiciest stories came out. This one particular story that I am thinking of involves the river and a murder.
APPARENTLY, there was a man in the neighbourhood (I cannot for the life of me remember his name) who was a very sweet, kind and gentle soul. He had a waterfront house and he would let us cross through his yard to access the water. He also had a wife who was equally as generous and a gentle soul.
This whole saga started when the people in the neighbourhood hadn’t seen his wife for a few days. Asking our gentle giant, he simply said that she took a trip to Sudbury to go and visit her family. A few weeks went by and then a month went by and she made no appearances.
It turns out that our gentle giant isn’t so gentle after all. After many neighbours became suspicious, they contacted authorities and what they found was sinister as fuck. Our gentle giant had killed his wife by blunt force trauma. Needing to get rid of the body, he did the most logical think and sawed her body into smaller pieces. He then disposed of the pieces in the beloved river that we all swam in as children.
True or not, that’s so fucked up shit that haunts me to this day!
